That's an interesting fact. That's always the risk with collaborative work: it can be great if everyone supports one another, but it only takes one moron to throw the whole thing off. I'm glad he wasn't able to make the Dominion War only two episodes, that would have been awful. Hilarious, but awful.

So true! Neutering the Borg with the Queen was one of the worst moves. It just went downhill from there. One of the best cliffhangers I've seen so far was Best of Both Worlds (TNG) due to the immensity, weight, gravitas, and ineffability of the Borg.

Pretty much the main problem Voyager had I think was Rick Berman (The shows executive producer). He never liked doing anything risky always pulling people back and being (as Ron Moore put it) to conservative. Brannon Braga on of the writers and another producer for Voyager wanted to do Year of Hell as full season. But no Berman Said it had to be a two-parter (Hell, he wanted the entire Dominion War in DS9 to be a two parter).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeLrqLP1DJk
In that Q is taking about an alternate Picard but it really does show the problem Voyager had, always playing it safe.

Also while speaking of Q why wasn't he the reason they got home? I think "we passed a test by Q and got to go home as reward" is much better than "we found a plot hole that goes all the way to Earth. Engage!"

Oh and here's a plug for http://www.sfdebris.com/ He does often get in to the flaws that Voyager (and other shows) had really well while still finding time to praise what they did right. He also did a review of Mass Effect 2 as a science fiction piece. Although if he does do a ME3 review it's going to be liking asking Kirk to beat up a blind, crippled hobbit.

It's clear from last week's posts to this post that you've put more thought and design into this particular article. I agree with most of your assertions about this show. It could have and should have been much better than it was. This show was my first foray into the Star Trek universe, and though I was pretty religiously involved in the first few seasons as a kid, I quickly grew tired with the show as a whole and never really watched most of the rest of the series. Sadly, the terrible writing never convinced me to venture into DS9 or TNG, and I sometimes regret not watching them.

Having said that, good job on fleshing out this article more. It's evident to me that when you have the time and the passion for the subject, your writing and editorial skills are much more sharply focused. Keep up the enthusiasm. I, for one, enjoy reading the results.
